Principal’s Post
Dear Families,
I hope this message finds you well as we head into the final days of September! Our Superstars are continuing to shine brightly, and I have a few exciting updates to share. The attendance race is officially heating up! Ms. Davy’s class is currently in the lead for the Attendance Breakfast, but many classrooms are incredibly close. I encourage everyone to finish the month strong, and I can’t wait to celebrate the winning class and schedule the Attendance Contest Breakfast for Attendance Awareness Month!
In addition to building the habit of daily school attendance, building a strong reading habit is a crucial part of your child’s success. That’s why we’re encouraging all of our students to read at least 20 minutes every night. Reading regularly not only improves vocabulary and comprehension, but it also opens up a world of imagination and knowledge. We’ve been so impressed with the effort so far—our Superstars have already read 790 books this month! Let’s keep that momentum going. Can we reach 1,000 books for the month of September? Please remember to log your child’s nightly reading using this link: https://forms.gle/bshU4hcReq2WGJ8r5. I can’t wait to share our final Superstars Reading Log data at the end of the month and celebrate all of your hard work!
A huge thank you to everyone who supported the PTO spaghetti dinner fundraiser on Wednesday evening. It was a wonderful success, bringing in $375 for the PTO. Your generosity helps make so many great things happen at Walnut Square. I would also like to thank the PTO for organizing and running a successful event! Your commitment and dedication is very much appreciated!
As with all family updates, this will be posted on our school website, https://walnutsquare.archive.haverhill-ps.org/ and sent to you via Parent Square and Remind. In addition to the Walnut Square School website, you can also “like” our Facebook page, Walnut Square Elementary School, follow us on Instragram, @walnutsquaresuperstars, and/or follow my channel on YouTube, @jenrubera, to get updates and see all of the fun and learning taking place at Walnut Square! Please contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Jen Rubera
